HINDES FINE ART
Janice Yow Hindes, co- owner Hindes Fine Art and instructor at Hindes Academy of Fine Art, paints in the representational manner. Each year she and her students provide an intense day of learning for local middle school students free of charge. Students paint their first oil paintings with one on one instruction to amazing results. Their paintings will be featured along with Hindes art and the gallery paintings of local and national artists. Hindes is a national award-winning artist with exhibitions in museums.

REX HAUSMANN
For me, painting is the purest form of problem solving. I communicate through drawing and painting and sometimes words, which I like to have fun with. Art and life become one in my images, and I have two overriding interests: painting and people. My goal is to relate with people, their daily lives, their actions, and their stories as they are.

SARAH CONNELL
Sarah is a ceramic and watercolor artist living in Beacon Hill since 2013. Her love of nature and natural forms inspires her work, specifically the garden around her home and her husband’s cactus collection. She is a former elementary school Art Educator, and fell in love with her chosen media through classes at Southwest School of Art (now UTSA Southwest).

LOCOSAN CERAMICS
I think “Locosan” (Jerry Lockey) is a good description for my “design and build” vision of ceramic art by molding, shaping, hand building and glazing with vintage glazes. My inspiration is my wife and muse Dara. My mind explores ways to tell a story through vessels and sculpture with color, shape, and texture that show contradictions and/or symmetry of the ideas and inspirations that I experience. My motto is the Japanese word “”Shouganai”” which means in a general sense “”go with the flow and move forward.”” I have my pieces at Mockingbird Handprints and was recently selected to be part of the Texas Landscape Exhibition hosted by the San Antonio Art League and Museum.

VANCE STUDIO
Primarily a stone carver & sculptor, my creative interests are far-ranging, covering many mediums and styles to suit most needs to complete a particular project. My abstract stone sculptures have been described as water-like, flowing and liquid, or as if someone had scooped into the stone like ice cream. As a whole my work ranges from ribbon-like abstracts to classically inspired figures, bas-relief and whimsical characters; they draw the viewer in, whispering, inviting to come closer. My military illustrations, paintings and drawings are award winning, some in the permanent collection housed at The Pentagon. A retired Air Force senior NCO, now working as a Medical Illustrator in San Antonio, I have the honor of being the Chairperson for Forward, Arts! , an art immersion program created to service veterans living with PTSD. I’m also an active member of the Texas Sculpture Group, Texas Society of Sculptors, San Antonio Art League & Museum, and Air Force Art Program.

PYROELVIS
Raised in San Antonio, upon high school graduation Ben attended Texas A&M University. During that time, he studied with Paolo Barruchieri in Italy, in the small town of Castiglion Fiorentino, Tuscany. After coming back to finish his degree in Environmental Design, Ben returned to Italy, where he perfected his drawing skills and met his wife Patrizia, to work at the Italart school for about 2 years. After spending time in Italy, he came back to San Antonio, where he enlisted in the US Army and subsequently spent time in Alabama, Kansas and Hawaii. Upon finishing his service time with the US Army, Ben and his wife and daughter had a short stay in Italy. They returned to San Antonio in 1998 where he has been an Artist, Illustrator and Designer.

LOSAURA STUDIOS
I have been a painter for well over 50 years, working in oils, watercolor, silks, linens, and ceramics. Besides working out of my house, I have 2 studios at the Blue Star Complex, one for 34 years. I’m included in the Latino archives of the Smithsonian in Washington DC and part of the Cooper Hewitt Design Museum in New York City. Exhibiting throughout the Southwest US, my last exhibit was a 6 month exhibit at Overland Architectural Firm in SA. My work is In the collection of Sandra Cisneros, Charles Field, SA Texas A&M, and Caroline Kennedy.

KATRINA COOK
Maybe books are vessels for communicating thoughts, experiences, dreams and wishes. I rescue damaged antique books and merge them with found objects, beads, and textured paper. They become interactive artistic companions on our journeys through life as we add our own creative musings to the page.

ECHOGLASS
My first exposure to the beauty of stained glass was when I attended Ursuline Academy and the Little Flower Basilica. (I was more fascinated with the stained windows than what was going on). I took classes to learn the art and enjoyed creating pieces for my family and friends. I took a pause for marriage and children, and then revived my passion six years ago. I create my own designs and my own patterns. I try to make pieces affordable by limiting the size of panels and using small but colorful glass pieces that I find in the “scrap” bins at stained glass stores or broken pieces found at estate sales. I hand pick every piece for their blended and vibrant colors, texture, and movement in the glass. Sometimes, a singular piece of glass will inspire the finished product. I prefer the organic look of curves and circular cuts over straight lines because it creates a sense of movement. I experiment by including other glass materials in the panels. All are welcome to visit my studio

KAT SHEVCHENKO
Employing a serenely chaotic style, Kat is driven by inspiration from the natural world, dreams, and life experiences within her fine art and illustration. Drawing from her well of influences ranging from surrealism to metaphysics she creates fantastical imagery, poignant in layers of cryptic symbolism that explore the twilight realms of consciousness with an observant whimsical emotion. She primarily works in oils and casein, employing an Old Master traditional glazing technique.
